Pop star Bruno Mars is adding New Zealand to his latest world tour, with two shows scheduled for next year.
After hints and rumours, promoters confirmed on Monday that Mars would be playing two Auckland shows.
His 24K Magic World Tour started in March, with tour dates confirmed in North America and Europe until November. He will not reach New Zealand until February, however.
During Mars’ last visit to New Zealand he played two sold-out Vector (now Spark) Arena shows in 2014. He had performed three years earlier to the same venue in 2011. Back then, the artist who was not a household name was applauded as a “breath of fresh air” by reviewers.

The 24K Magic World Tour had, from performances so far, included all of Mars’ older favourites. The set list included Uptown Funk, Grenade, When I Was Your Man and Marry You. It also featured newer tracks, Calling All My Lovelies and of course, 24K Magic.
Reviewers in London commended Mars’ athletic and energetic performance. “He’s a mover, constantly a-twirl,” said Caroline Sullivan of The Guardian. He never missed a routine, she said, which could only be put down to his vigorous work ethic.
Bruno Mars performs at Auckland’s Spark Arena, February 27 and 28. Tickets on sale from May 5.
